Car Maintenance Tips

Some owners of cars that struggle to remember the last time that happened under the hood of their vehicle. There are points that should be checked regularly, including the windscreen washing liquid, the engine oil, engine coolant and power steering and brake fluids.

The windshield needs to be recharged regularly. This must be mixed with enough water, as indicated on the package and check the car manual to locate where it should be imported from. Try to spare, and keep a bottle in the car boot as it can be very useful if you are in a remote location and the need to clean the windshield for better visibility.

The engine oil should be checked with a dipstick opening. If you do not know where it is, then the car manual as it varies with different vehicles. Some cars have no dipstick hole because the machine can control this for you automatically. If you need to check manually, follow these instructions:

1.If the engine still warm, parking the car on a level surface and turn the engine off. Let cool for at least five minutes and open the bonnet.
2.Remove opening the dipstick, wipe with a clean cloth and place the dipstick hole back a.
3.Remove the dipstick hole and check the oil on the bottom between the minimum and maximum markers. The oil must be cleaned with a dark honey color. If the black mud with pieces of white foam then there may be a problem and you should consult a mechanic before continuing their journey.
4.If it is low, then topped it yourself using the instructions in the car manual to find the filler cap and the correct grade of oil.

The engine cooling liquid is one of the most easy to control in the car. Most cars have a clear tank under the hood, so you can see if between the minimum and maximum markers. But watch out for donsjes white smoke from the exhaust as this may mean that the car is burning up.

The brake and power steering fluid materials are potentially hazardous and must be kept in clearly labeled containers, away from young people. Only use new brake fluid, brake fluid is old, if used could lead to infection causing damage to the braking system. Verify that a sufficient quantity of brake / steering fluid in your car to make sure they completed within the minimum and maximum markers on the container. If the level is below the minimum and that the warning lights in the car then top up at this point. If you believe this regularly then recharge the car checked by a qualified mechanic as it might be that the car has a leak.
